When we think about the main priorities when traveling internationally, we think about the visa requirements to enter the country that we are visiting, airline tickets, accommodations, transportation, tour, entertainment, and food but most sites about traveling hardly mentions something that it should be at the top of this list along with personal security and it is your own health.
The discussion about health it is not only about being in an adequate shape to be able to walk a fair amount of distance (especially when going places around Europe since there is a lot of walking around going on) but also about your inmune system being in top notch condition when traveling.
If you travel more than once a year to different parts of the world, I strongly suggest you built up your immune system as much as possible weeks even months before your travel date.
I speak out of my own experience. at the end of 2023. I traveled back-to-back during the months of November and December through a main HUB in Latinoamerica. Next thing, I was sick for week. I came to the realization that being sick takes away the enjoyment of traveling. mainly when traveling solo.
I decided to focus 110% on my health and being able to recoup to be able to travel again and enjoy the beauty of visiting other countries.
Popular believe about boasting your immune system is taking vitamin C, Zinc and wearing a mask. But these precautions aren’t enough to protect your body from the exposure of several viruses, bacterias and environmental toxins that could be found at the airport, airplanes and other public places during your vacation. Building your immune system is about a synergy, a combination, coordination, balancing and strengthening of several systems within your body and this process should take weeks and months of preparation, not just days.
I am not a physician and the information I am sharing is based on my own research and experiences. I am sharing my findings that could help you as well.
4 critical components that are necessary for cellular function such as growth and regulation: Oxygen, Water, Sodium and Potassium, but how to get these components to the cellular level? These are carried into the cells through the blood. The blood carries these indispensable components thanks to homeostasis (equilibrium between interdependent elements from the cell). In order to create the environment for the homeostasis process, sodium and potassium are necessary.
In summary and not to get in a bio-chemistry class, Oxygen, water, sodium, potassium and magnesium are necessary besides Vitamin C and Zinc in order for the cell to carry out its processes. And many other vitamins and nutrients.
A few changes that aid and help your health besides eating right and exercising.:
Change table salt for Celtic salt if possible. It has more electrolytes than regular table salt. Potassium and magnesium that helps keep the fluid balance in the body. Alternatives: Real salt (from Utah), Himalayan Salt. Barbara O’Neill, alternative medicine guru gives a really good explanation about benefits of Celtic Salt.
Practice meditation and yoga. Both practices lower blood pressure, increases oxygen in your blood among other benefits.
Yoga for immunity. There are certain yoga Asanas that help strengthens the immune system. Brett Larkin Yoga in you tube have a few videos dedicated to yoga for immunity.
Maintain a healthy mouth, sinus biofilm. I truly believe these harmful bacteria that in turn could potentially affect inmune system opening the door to other bacterias. Watch Dr. Ellie Phillips, DDS videos in you tube for further explanation on how to take care of your mouth biofilm.
Maintenace of the oral, sinus and digestive system is necessary for the proper balance of the biofilm within your internal tissues and therefore the balance of the microbiome flora. Whenever the sinus biofilm flora is in proper condition, this one is able to protect and defend against foreign microorganism, and environmental toxins better. As is very popular now to take probiotics and prebiotics.
Intermitting fasting it is very helpful with the immune system, when done in the short-term basis
In addition to these few steps to boast the immune system, still wear the mask in crowded places. Can’t be careful enough during these times.
